If you can find one that’s not a criminal, let me know.
I would really prefer a lawyer who is experienced in the field pertaining to my case.
You wouldn’t go to an eye doctor to have your appendix removed, right?
Criminal attorneys pass the same bar exams as the rest. Some attorney’s specialize…like you’ve indicated…in family law, real estate law, medical law, etc!
A criminal attorney will be more familiar with laws that go to court and know the “defenses” and “case law” which is a good thing.
Best bet is to ask your attorney his qualifications in family law. Who better to answer you directly?!
Best wishes!
Its best to use a lawyer who has worked in the field you need him for
If you like him, and he has *some* family law experience, or it is a really simple case, stick with him. There is a lot of cross-over between criminal and family law, belive it or not.
You can, but a lawyer specializing in family law will normally have a more thorough knowledge of the different aspects. I’d find a lawyer with experience in the type of case I was involved in.
You will be better off with a Domestic attorney, one who handles family court issues, unless the issue at hand involves criminal matters. Criminal lawyers only work with criminal matters, unless he/she is “flexible” and does other work other than just criminal (i.e. domestic, ssi, civil, etc.). You should ask your attorney next time you visit if he/she handles family law? If not, your best bet is to get a Domestic attorney.
Don’t be crazy. If your case is a family law case, get a family law attorney. Would you go to the dentist if you broke your arm?
